Bayview Park and Perth Amboy Harborside Marina
Hurricane Sandy | New Jersey
An eleven-foot storm surge from Hurricane Sandy caused an aging bulkhead protecting Bayview Park and the Perth Amboy Harborside Marina to fail. The entire waterfront promenade sustained damaged – boardwalks, the marina, embankments, a fishing pier, park benches and fencing, as well as a historic stone wall and stairs. It was my job to audit the project and ensure funding matched the eligible recovery efforts. Working with our counterparts at the city and state, I was able to double their grant funding to a total $7M in reconstruction. With this funding, the community was able to repair and modernize their facilities to comply with current codes and standards.
