Hurricane Sandy | New Jersey
For the last year, I’ve been the reviewer of all project cost-estimates for FEMA’s Hurricane Sandy recovery infrastructure projects in New Jersey. In this role, I generate estimates for projects, validate costs for reasonableness, and ensure procurement methods comply with federal regulations. My reviews may determine whether a facility is eligible for replacement, include the analysis for hazard mitigation improvements, and what appropriate codes and standards upgrades are needed. Some of these projects can be politically sensitive or high profile, but it’s always interesting because I see a variety of facility types that are critical to communities – police stations, city halls, fire houses, sewerage treatment plants, among others.
